DICK BLANCHARD After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Dick Blanchard died on March 23, 2009 at the age of 68 at a Calgary Hospital. Dick was born in Winnipeg and spent the beginning of his life in Winnipeg. He settled later in Calgary. Dick is survived by his wife Janet Hopfner of Ste. Rose, MB. Dick and Janet were married over 30 years. He is also survived by his daughter Tammi (husband Leonard Hanke) and grandchildren Danica and Lucas of Calgary. Dick is survived by his mother Ann Blanchard presently at the age of 96. Dick will be missed by a very special friend his uncle Jerry Kuzyk. They went to school together at Kelwood, MB. Dick was a very compassionate person. He phoned Jerry weekly and gave Jerry encouragement and comfort knowing Jerry was twenty four seven caregiver for his wife Joan who struggles with Multiple Sclerosis. Dick is also survived by four more uncles and three aunts. Dick was one of Johovah's Witnesses and looked forward to the Resurrection in a Paradise Earth. He believed in the scripture at Job 14:15 where it says You Will Call, and I Myself Shall Answer You .
